DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly opposed the Union government plan to recruit Joint Secretaries and directors into central ministries through lateral entry, bypassing established Union Public Service Commission examinations. Stalin argued that recruiting external personnel without applying constitutionally mandated affirmative action policies strikes a severe blow against social justice. He pointed out that this back-door recruitment mechanism systematically denies fair representation to Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes in senior administrative policymaking bodies.
Stalin highlighted that central policies including the National Education Policy 2020, NEET examinations, and altered recruitment rules in banking, railways, and postal services had already eroded social justice principles. He accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of attempting to pack key executive departments with favored individuals while dismantling constitutional protections won through decades of historic struggles. Stalin demanded that the Union government immediately withdraw the lateral entry advertisement and adhere strictly to statutory reservation quotas across all levels of public administration.
The strong statement rallied progressive parties and social justice advocates across India. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will persistently defend reservation rights and constitutional equality.
