DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the high-handed police arrest of farmer leader P.R. Pandian associate Ilankeeran, who had actively led peaceful agitations for agrarian loan waivers and recently met Stalin to express gratitude for championing farmers demands. Stalin accused the AIADMK administration and Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami of abusing state police machinery to persecute agricultural activists simply because they appreciated the opposition consistent advocacy for peasant welfare.
Stalin questioned how many thousands of grateful citizens and farmers the repressive state government planned to imprison merely for thanking the DMK leadership. He reminded Palaniswami that the desperate pre-election announcement of cooperative farm loan waivers was conceded only due to relentless political pressure and public agitations spearheaded by the DMK and farmer organizations. Stalin asserted that intoxicated by authoritarian power, the chief minister failed to realize that it was not the resilient farming community that would face defeat, but Palaniswami himself at the polling booths.
The strong rebuke earned profound solidarity from agricultural federations across the state. Stalin reaffirmed the DMK unwavering dedication to protecting farmer rights, freedom of speech, and agrarian prosperity throughout Tamil Nadu.
