DMK president M.K. Stalin reacted strongly to the late removal of Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi by the Union government, characterizing the presidential order as a belated political maneuver designed to mislead voters ahead of assembly elections. Stalin stated that for nearly five years, the Bharatiya Janata Party permitted Bedi to run an unconstitutional parallel administration that deliberately paralyzed the elected government, blocked vital welfare schemes, and severely disrupted public administration across the Union Territory.
Stalin asserted that the central government had turned democratic governance into a mockery by utilizing gubernatorial authority as an instrument to undermine elected representatives and stall development projects. He pointed out that this eleventh-hour replacement was an orchestrated eyewash aimed at dodging public wrath at the polling booths. Stalin emphasized that the citizens of Puducherry were politically astute and would neither forget nor forgive the sustained administrative sabotage inflicted upon their territory.
The DMK leader reaffirmed his alliance steadfast support for the democratic autonomy of Puducherry. Stalin called upon democratic progressives and political parties across India to unite against central overreach that eroded federal principles and state autonomy.
