Editorial context

Commemorating International Mother Language Day on February 21, 2021, DMK president M.K. Stalin emphasized the vital duty of cherishing and protecting one mother tongue as equal to life itself. Stalin noted that the classical Tamil language, with its millennia of rich literature and profound philosophical heritage, stands tall on the global stage. He recalled that previous DMK governments led by Kalaignar Karunanidhi consistently safeguarded Tamil identity, notably making Tamil Thai Vazhthu mandatory at the commencement of all official state government functions.

Stalin made a firm ideological commitment to champion true linguistic equality across India, pledging that the DMK would persistently advocate making classical Tamil, alongside all twenty-two regional languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, official languages of the Union government. He warned against covert attempts by the Union government to impose Hindi and Sanskrit on non-Hindi-speaking states through centralized education and administrative policies. Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian movement would perpetually stand as an unyielding fortress defending regional linguistic pride and federal cultural diversity.

Scholars, writers, and language advocates across Tamil Nadu warmly welcomed Stalin principled commitment. His message highlighted the DMK enduring leadership in defending linguistic heritage and genuine constitutional federalism nationwide.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
