DMK president M.K. Stalin delivered a historic address at the Western Zone Farmers Conference held in Perundurai, Erode district, on February 21, 2021. Addressing tens of thousands of farmers, dairy producers, and agricultural laborers, Stalin presented a visionary agricultural revival charter designed to lift Tamil Nadu farming households out of chronic debt and neglect. He recalled that the DMK under Kalaignar Karunanidhi pioneered revolutionary farmer welfare measures, including free agricultural electricity, comprehensive cooperative crop loan waivers, and the establishment of regulated Uzhavar Sandhais.

Stalin pledged that the incoming DMK administration would create an exclusive annual agricultural budget in the legislative assembly to prioritize farmer welfare, modern irrigation, organic farming incentives, and post-harvest cold storage infrastructure. He promised an immediate waiver of outstanding cooperative crop loans, fair statutory procurement prices for sugarcane and paddy, and dedicated marketing boards for turmeric and coconut growers in western districts. Stalin reaffirmed his steadfast opposition to the three contentious central farm laws, asserting that Tamil Nadu would enact legislation to protect agricultural sovereignty.

The conference concluded with rapturous applause from agrarian leaders. Stalin comprehensive roadmap firmly established the DMK as the authentic champion of farming livelihoods across the state.
