DMK president M.K. Stalin declared on February 22, 2021, that the political downfall of the corrupt AIADMK government would originate from Edappadi assembly constituency itself. Speaking during his statewide tour, Stalin revealed that the highest number of public grievance petitions submitted across the entire Ungal Thoguthiyil Stalin campaign had arrived from Edappadi, the personal home constituency of Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami. He stated that this overwhelming influx of complaints exposed the complete failure of Palaniswami to serve even his own local electorate.
Stalin remarked that the Chief Minister was utterly detached from grassroots realities, knowing only how to plunder public revenue and function as a subservient vassal to his political masters in Delhi. He pointed out that residents of Edappadi lacked basic amenities, including dependable irrigation water, proper sanitation, motorable roads, and support for local handloom weavers and tapioca farmers. Stalin affirmed that voters who were betrayed by Palaniswami empty promises were preparing to deliver a decisive rejection at the polling booth.
The disclosure sent shockwaves through the ruling party camp while electrifying opposition cadres. Stalin sharp observations underscored that even entrenched ruling party bastions were repudiating misgovernance in favor of the DMK progressive administrative alternative.
