DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a passionate appeal to workers of Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited on February 23, 2021, urging them to vote for the Labor Progressive Federation in the recognized trade union elections. Stalin highlighted the historic struggles spearheaded by the DMK and LPF to protect public sector employees and secure genuine justice for project-affected residents. He emphasized that the LPF stood firmly committed to fulfilling critical worker demands, including eighty-five percent priority for Tamil Nadu youth in all vacant positions across the enterprise.

Stalin also championed permanent employment for contract laborers, apprentice trainees from Industrial Training Institutes, and legal heirs of deceased workers. He demanded comprehensive financial compensation, alternate housing sites, and permanent employment guarantees for rural families who had surrendered agricultural lands for NLC mining expansion decades ago. Stalin criticized the central and state governments for attempting to privatize public sector assets and dilute hard-won labor protections.
