Leading by personal example to strengthen public confidence in healthcare science, DMK president M.K. Stalin received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at a government hospital in Chennai on March 9, 2021. Following the vaccination, Stalin expressed heartfelt gratitude to researchers, medical scientists, and healthcare innovators who worked tirelessly under extreme pressure to develop safe and effective immunizations against the coronavirus in record time. He emphasized that scientific innovation represented humanity most dependable defense against global public health emergencies.
Stalin appealed earnestly to eligible citizens across Tamil Nadu to come forward and get vaccinated without hesitation as their turns arrived. He stressed that achieving widespread population immunity was critical to safeguarding vulnerable elderly relatives, supporting overburdened medical professionals, and reviving normal social and economic life. Alongside vaccination, Stalin urged the public to continue practicing preventive health measures, including diligent mask usage, frequent hand washing, and responsible physical distancing in crowded spaces.
The vaccination event was widely commended by medical experts and civic organizations as an inspiring act of leadership that dispelled public vaccine skepticism. Stalin rational, science-backed approach reinforced the DMK enduring trust in modern medical science.
