Marking National Vaccination Day on March 16, 2021, DMK president M.K. Stalin appealed directly to the people of Tamil Nadu to embrace COVID-19 immunization as a vital civic and scientific duty. Highlighting that vaccines represented an invaluable gift of modern medical science, Stalin urged citizens to discard hesitation, rumors, or misinformation and promptly receive their vaccine doses. He emphasized that widespread immunization remained the most dependable shield to protect vulnerable families, senior citizens, and frontline healthcare workers from recurring pandemic waves.
Alongside vaccination, Stalin reminded the public of the critical need to maintain responsible preventive habits, including wearing protective face masks in public spaces, practicing hand hygiene, and observing physical distancing. He urged state and district health authorities to ramp up vaccination outreach by establishing accessible walk-in immunization camps in rural primary health centres, municipal wards, and busy residential neighbourhoods. Stalin stressed that public health communication must be transparent, empathetic, and scientifically grounded to ensure universal coverage.
The appeal was widely commended by medical professionals, epidemiologists, and civic organizations. Stalin rational, public-spirited stance highlighted the Dravidian movement foundational belief in scientific progress and collective responsibility for public well-being.
