Recognizing media professionals as vital frontline workers who bravely disseminate accurate information during the epidemic, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced enhanced welfare assistance and financial security measures for accredited journalists, press photographers, and television videographers across Tamil Nadu. Acknowledging their tireless public service amid grave health risks, Stalin increased the special pandemic incentive payment from three thousand to five thousand rupees for all government-recognized media personnel.
Demonstrating profound administrative empathy for the families of media workers who lost their lives to the viral contagion, the Chief Minister sanctioned an immediate bereavement compensation grant of ten lakh rupees to the legal heirs of deceased journalists. Stalin affectionately urged journalists, camera crews, and field reporters to exercise utmost caution, maintain physical distancing, and strictly wear protective gear while covering hospital operations and containment zones. He emphasized that the state government deeply values the fearless commitment of the press in upholding democratic accountability during a national emergency.
Stalin considerate welfare policy provided critical financial solace and institutional security to hardworking press professionals. By acknowledging media personnel as frontline warriors and expanding bereavement protections, his administration demonstrated compassionate, people-centric governance.
