Resolving a long-standing financial injustice inflicted on veteran public transport personnel, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin disbursed 497.32 crore rupees towards settlement of long-pending terminal retirement benefits. The major financial release directly cleared overdue provident fund, gratuity, and leave encashment arrears for 2,457 employees who retired from various State Transport Undertakings between January and April 2020, whose legitimate statutory dues had remained stalled under the previous regime.

The Chief Minister personally handed over settlement orders to representative retired transport workers at the Secretariat in Chennai, conveying his warm greetings for a peaceful, healthy, and dignified retired life. Stalin emphasized that transport workers serve as the lifeline of public mobility across Tamil Nadu, operating state buses through difficult terrains to connect rural hamlets with urban centers. He asserted that denying or delaying statutory terminal benefits to hardworking public servants is morally unconscionable, affirming that the DMK government will systematically restore fiscal health and operational integrity to state transport corporations.
