Prior to the scheduled release of irrigation waters from Mettur Dam, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted an extensive, on-the-spot field inspection of canal and river desilting operations across multiple Cauvery delta districts. Stalin reviewed dredging machinery in action, inspected cleared irrigation channels, and assessed the removal of silt, weeds, and blockages along primary supply canals and distributaries to ensure water reaches the tail-end agrarian tracts effortlessly.
The Chief Minister highlighted that expanding Tamil Nadu net cultivated area from sixty percent to seventy-five percent was one of his fundamental pre-election seven vision commitments. Stalin affirmed that his administration is executing comprehensive agricultural modernizations, comprising canal desilting, input subsidies, farm mechanization, and direct procurement, to achieve higher crop yields and foster thriving, happy farming communities. He instructed water resources and revenue officials to monitor water progression closely so that even the remotest agricultural tail-end parcels receive sufficient irrigation without interruption.
Stalin hands-on inspection of canal desilting ensured unprecedented quality and speed in pre-monsoon irrigation preparations. By personally touring canal banks, Stalin reaffirmed his government deep agrarian commitment to maximizing agricultural productivity and securing farmer welfare across Tamil Nadu.
