Our Govt has decided to open the Mettur Dam on 12th June. In this regard, I've written to @gssjodhpur requesting him to advise CWMA to ensure that the monthly schedule fixed by the Hon'ble SC is honored in the quantum of water received at Biligundulu. https://t.co/tFbn0Yx46H

Following the Tamil Nadu government policy decision to open the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur on the customary date of June 12 for Kuruvai paddy cultivation, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed an urgent formal communication to Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Stalin requested the Union Minister to issue clear directives to the Cauvery Water Management Authority to guarantee that Karnataka adheres strictly to the monthly water release schedule mandated by the Supreme Court of India.
The Chief Minister stressed that the survival and success of Kuruvai cultivation across more than five lakh acres of fertile Cauvery delta farmland depends directly upon receiving Tamil Nadu statutory share of water at Biligundulu gauging station without deficit. Stalin highlighted that as per the apex court decree, Karnataka is legally obligated to release designated monthly quotas during June, July, and August. He urged central authorities to ensure continuous monitoring and enforce compliance to avert water shortages for delta farming communities.
Stalin prompt diplomatic intervention safeguarded Tamil Nadu riparian rights at the very commencement of the irrigation year. By holding Union and interstate regulatory authorities accountable to constitutional mandates, his leadership demonstrated vigilant stewardship of the state vital water lifelines.
