During his maiden official visit to the national capital as Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, presenting a comprehensive memorandum championing Tamil Nadu vital developmental needs and constitutional federal rights. Stalin articulated urgent demands across water resources, school education, public health infrastructure, industrial expansion, and youth employment generation, urging substantial central fiscal allocations to accelerate post-pandemic regional economic resurgence.
Upholding Tamil Nadu long-standing political stance, the Chief Minister forcefully petitioned the Prime Minister for the total exemption of Tamil Nadu from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), which severely disadvantages rural students from pursuing medical education. Stalin also demanded the immediate withdrawal of the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) notifications, and the controversial Chennai-Salem eight-lane greenfield expressway project that threatened farmland and forests. He emphasized that genuine cooperative federalism requires the Union Government to respect state legislative autonomy and regional aspirations.
Stalin forthright diplomatic engagement signaled a confident, self-respecting era in Centre-State relations. By voicing public grievances directly to the nation top executive, his leadership exemplified how principled advocacy can secure regional interests without ideological compromise.
