Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed a strongly worded communication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting glaring regional disparities in the Union government allocation of COVID-19 vaccines and demanding an immediate special consignment of one crore vaccine doses for Tamil Nadu. Stalin presented comparative official data demonstrating that while states like Gujarat, Karnataka, and Rajasthan received 533, 493, and 446 doses per thousand eligible population respectively, Tamil Nadu was allocated a meager 302 doses per thousand persons.
The Chief Minister stressed that this severe shortfall penalized a state actively overcoming vaccine hesitancy and running aggressive mass immunization drives in both urban centers and rural hamlets. Stalin pointed out that Tamil Nadu high population density, expansive industrial manufacturing workforce, and massive service sectors necessitate a substantially higher allocation of vaccine doses to achieve community immunity. He urged the Prime Minister to intervene personally to correct this unfair disparity and ensure federal parity.
Stalin data-driven federal confrontation underscored his resolute commitment to protecting the health rights of Tamil Nadu citizens. By exposing inequitable vaccine distributions and demanding corrective Union intervention, his leadership defended state interests and ensured adequate immunizations to safeguard public health.
