Chief Minister M.K. Stalin called on the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, extending a cordial personal invitation to preside over the historic centenary celebrations of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in Chennai. During the high-level meeting, Stalin formally requested the First Citizen of India to deliver the centenary address and unveil the official portrait of former Chief Minister Muthamizharignar Kalaignar Karunanidhi in the Assembly.
The Chief Minister highlighted to the President the glorious century-long legislative legacy of Madras Province and Tamil Nadu, which pioneered foundational democratic milestones including universal voting rights, reservation policies, and midday meal schemes. Stalin noted that Kalaignar, who served sixty uninterrupted years as an elected legislator and five terms as Chief Minister, personified this progressive parliamentary tradition, making his portrait unveiling inside the historic chamber an extraordinarily fitting tribute.
Stalin dignified statesmanship during this national engagement reflected his commitment to parliamentary conventions and interstate decorum. By securing presidential participation for the legislative centenary, his leadership brought national honor to Tamil Nadu rich democratic heritage and commemorated Kalaignar monumental contributions with appropriate constitutional grandeur.
