Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the newly upgraded Government Peripheral Hospital at Periyar Nagar in Kolathur, Chennai, developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 15.52 crore. Modernized with state-of-the-art medical technology, the expanded facility provides two hundred in-patient beds for adults, one hundred specialized pediatric beds, a fully equipped emergency trauma care center, modern modular operation theaters, and advanced diagnostic imaging units to serve densely populated northern neighborhoods of the city.

The Chief Minister conducted a comprehensive inspection of the newly constructed medical blocks, reviewing intensive care units, neonatal care wards, dialysis machines, and pharmaceutical dispensaries. Stalin emphasized that strengthening peripheral and secondary healthcare facilities relieves heavy patient burdens on major tertiary institutions like Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and Kilpauk Medical College, while ensuring that working-class urban families access emergency and routine medical care close to their homes. He directed hospital staff to provide compassionate, high-quality care to all incoming patients.
