Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched a major statewide power infrastructure initiative to install 8,905 new electricity distribution transformers at an estimated outlay of Rs. 625 crore. Commencing the first phase of this grid modernization program during his constituency inspection in Kolathur, Chennai, Stalin reaffirmed his government resolve to guarantee uninterrupted power supply and permanently eliminate low-voltage disruptions across both urban and rural distribution networks.

The Chief Minister explained that rapid urban expansion, growing residential electricity loads, and burgeoning agricultural pump sets had placed heavy strains on older distribution transformers, leading to frequent local breakdowns and fluctuating voltages. Deploying modern high-capacity transformers with automated protection devices will optimize load distribution, prevent transformer burnouts, and enhance electrical safety for residential colonies and small business establishments. Stalin directed TANGEDCO engineers to execute installations on a priority basis across identified low-voltage pockets statewide.

Stalin infrastructure intervention highlighted his attentive focus on improving fundamental public utilities that directly affect daily citizen life.
