Chief Minister M.K. Stalin administered the inaugural official Social Justice Day pledge at the State Secretariat in Chennai, commemorating the birth anniversary of social revolutionary Thanthai Periyar. In accordance with Stalin landmark policy declaration designating September 17 as Social Justice Day annually, government officials, public servants, and citizens across Tamil Nadu took a solemn collective vow to uphold human equality, self-respect, gender parity, and brotherhood in all spheres of public administration and social life.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Thanthai Periyar dedicated his entire lifetime to serving the Tamil people, relentlessly striving to liberate society from degrading caste hierarchies, superstition, and social oppression. Stalin affirmed that taking this oath signifies a renewed commitment to forging an egalitarian society free from disparities of high and low. He expressed confidence that the collective march toward complete social justice will ultimately triumph.
Stalin institutionalization of Social Justice Day embeds Periyar revolutionary egalitarian principles into the permanent administrative culture of Tamil Nadu. By leading this state-wide pledge, he reaffirmed that the Dravidian model of governance operates with social equality as its guiding moral compass. Stalin visionary leadership ensures that Periyar emancipatory ideals continue to inspire progressive governance for generations to come.
