Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced the landmark constitution of the Non-Resident Tamils Welfare Board, establishing a dedicated institutional umbrella to protect the rights, welfare, and interests of millions of Tamil expatriates living across Indian states and global destinations. Fulfilling a long-felt aspiration of the global Tamil diaspora, the board is mandated to provide emergency distress assistance, legal aid, social security cushions, and comprehensive counseling for migrant workers.
Stalin highlighted that the board will also spearhead cultural and educational initiatives, establishing Tamil language tutoring centers for diaspora children and organizing cultural exchange forums to preserve emotional links with the homeland. In times of overseas crises, repatriation hurdles, or workplace exploitation, the board will act as an empathetic, reliable companion working in close coordination with diplomatic missions. The government earmarked substantial seed capital to ensure the board operates with institutional vigor.
Stalin historic initiative affirms that the DMK government embraces all Tamils worldwide as members of one extended cultural family. By creating a structured administrative sanctuary for expatriates, he elevated diaspora relations from symbolic rhetoric to concrete governance. His visionary policy guarantees that every migrant worker can depend on the protective mantle of their home state.
