Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted an extensive review of ongoing construction activities at the 150 million liters per day seawater desalination project in Nemmeli, advancing his government long-term vision of water self-sufficiency for Chennai. Citing the revered Thirukkural aphorism that life on earth cannot survive without water, Stalin recalled that successive DMK administrations have consistently pioneered monumental drinking water infrastructure projects to insulate the capital city from recurring water crises.

During the site inspection, Stalin examined the seawater intake pipeline works, reverse osmosis processing structures, and treated water pumping mains. He held detailed discussions with project engineers, water supply board executives, and contracting agencies, urging them to expedite civil construction works without compromising engineering excellence. Once operational, the advanced desalination plant will reliably supply potable water to over nine lakh residents across south Chennai neighborhoods.

Stalin hands-on inspection of major infrastructure highlights his results-driven administrative style. Rather than allowing critical civic projects to languish, he continuously inspects project sites to resolve execution bottlenecks and maintain delivery momentum.
