Have written to Hon. @DrSJaishankar, urging him to take all necesseary steps immediately to release the two Indian fishermen from the trawler capsized by Sri Lankan navy on 18th October and to trace & rescue the third fisherman aboard on the sunken vessel, who has been missing. https://t.co/eG3rCWQ0VP

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin wrote an urgent letter to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, calling for immediate diplomatic intervention following the capsizing of an Indian mechanized fishing boat after a collision involving a Sri Lankan naval vessel in the Palk Strait. Stalin expressed deep anxiety over the fate of three fishermen aboard the sunken craft, urging the Union Ministry to take all necessary measures to locate and rescue the missing fisherman while securing the prompt release of the two survivors detained in Sri Lanka.
The Chief Minister stressed that recurring incidents of harassment, vessel collisions, and arrests by Sri Lankan maritime authorities inflict unbearable trauma on coastal communities in Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that traditional fishing communities depend entirely on marine harvests for their daily subsistence and deserve physical protection and dignified treatment while plying their livelihood. Stalin urged the Ministry of External Affairs to handle the emergency with highest diplomatic urgency.
Stalin immediate intervention reflects his unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives, security, and fishing rights of Tamil Nadu coastal citizens. He continues pressing New Delhi for a permanent diplomatic resolution, ensuring fishermen can fish safely without foreign harassment.
