Chief Minister M.K. Stalin convened a high-level coordination conference with district collectors and disaster management authorities to evaluate administrative preparedness for the Northeast Monsoon, particularly in view of a developing low-pressure depression over the Bay of Bengal. Reviewing vulnerability maps and weather forecasts, Stalin issued clear guidelines to administrative heads to implement foolproof precautionary measures to minimize civic disruption and prevent loss of life.
The Chief Minister directed collectors of coastal and delta districts to identify vulnerable low-lying settlements, establish fully equipped multi-purpose relief shelters, and ensure adequate reserves of dry rations, potable drinking water, and backup power generators. He instructed emergency teams, including the State Disaster Response Force and fire and rescue personnel, to remain stationed at vulnerable points with boats and heavy dewatering pumps.
Stalin appealed to the general public to maintain heightened vigilance, avoid unnecessary travel during intense squalls, and extend full cooperation to government safety advisories and evacuation instructions. He stressed that administrative vigilance coupled with public awareness forms the most potent defense against natural hazards. Stalin proactive leadership reflected the government commitment to scientific disaster management and community protection.
