Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over a high-level emergency review meeting with Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and municipal commissioners at the Ripon Building, headquarters of the Greater Chennai Corporation. Convening the session immediately after concluding grueling ground inspections across flooded neighborhoods, Stalin reviewed real-time hydrological data, rainfall forecasts, and operational preparedness for impending heavy showers predicted over subsequent days across Tamil Nadu.
During the strategic deliberations, the Chief Minister instructed monitoring bureaucrats to maintain constant supervision over low-lying vulnerabilities, deploy high-capacity diesel pumps at all railway underpasses, and ensure unhindered transit along major arterial roadways. He emphasized that relief kitchens must maintain hygienic food preparation standards, ensuring adequate supplies of drinking water, baby food, and blankets for families housed in municipal relief shelters.
Stalin underscored that interdepartmental friction must not delay crisis intervention, directing electricity, highways, water supply, and health departments to operate as an integrated emergency response team. He held senior officers personally accountable for prompt grievance redressal. Stalin executive rigor and meticulous organizational supervision demonstrated responsive governance focused on minimizing civic distress during severe meteorological emergencies across Chennai.
