Thank you Hon'ble PM @narendramodi.
Had discussed about TN having exhausted State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) for 2020-21 towards COVID relief and requested to release funds from National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) of Union Government for this cyclone season.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin formally communicated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing gratitude for central attention toward Tamil Nadu flood crisis while urging the Union Government to sanction immediate financial assistance from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF). During high-level discussions, Stalin highlighted that Tamil Nadu had completely utilized its State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) allocation of over eight hundred crore rupees for 2020-21 toward extensive COVID-19 healthcare, hospital infrastructure, and pandemic containment measures.
With state coffers stretched thin by the relentless public health emergency, Stalin explained that the onset of severe Northeast Monsoon downpours and cyclonic storms created urgent fiscal requirements for immediate rescue operations, emergency relief distribution, and public infrastructure rehabilitation. He emphasized that timely central financial devolution is critical to repairing battered roads, breached irrigation tanks, and damaged power transmission networks across impacted districts.
The Chief Minister urged the Union Government to dispatch central assessment teams promptly and release interim financial assistance without administrative delays. Stalin demonstrated constructive and assertive federal engagement, advocating vigorously for the financial resources rightfully needed by Tamil Nadu to insulate its citizens from overlapping pandemic and disaster shocks.
