Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched a specialized monsoon disease prevention medical camp at Austin Nagar in Teynampet to protect urban residents from post-flood health risks. Addressing healthcare workers and local community members, Stalin announced that the state public health department will operationalize more than two hundred similar medical camps across Chennai to provide continuous diagnostic screening and fever surveillance in flood-impacted settlements.
These specialized camps are designed to offer immediate medical consultations, distribute preventative medications, test for seasonal infections like dengue and leptospirosis, and provide free chlorine tablets to sanitize drinking water reservoirs. Stalin inspected the medical dispensary, examined the availability of pediatric medicines, and urged attending physicians to conduct door-to-door health evaluations for vulnerable senior citizens and children residing in low-lying pockets.
Following the launch in Teynampet, Stalin traveled to Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram districts to review continuing flood rescue and infrastructure drainage operations. He held discussions with district collectors and engineering teams, emphasizing speedy canal restorations and adequate relief supplies in shelter camps. By combining proactive epidemic management with regional disaster inspections, Stalin demonstrated comprehensive leadership dedicated to preserving community public health.
