Chief Minister M.K. Stalin confirmed that stagnant rainwater has been successfully drained from a majority of neighborhoods across Chennai following relentless round-the-clock dewatering operations. During a comprehensive field tour, Stalin inspected special monsoon medical camps and vaccination centers organized across Villivakkam, Kolathur, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, and Egmore. He interacted directly with local residents, inquired about neighborhood sanitation conditions, and distributed essential food and relief packages to affected families.
The establishment of localized medical camps was initiated to prevent the outbreak of seasonal contagious illnesses, dengue, and leptospirosis following intense precipitation. Healthcare workers at these facilities provided diagnostic checkups, distributed preventative medications, administered COVID-19 vaccinations, and distributed chlorine tablets to ensure potable drinking water. Stalin reviewed pharmaceutical stocks at the clinics, instructing doctors to maintain adequate reserves of anti-venom and fever therapeutics.
Stalin lauded sanitation teams and municipal staff for their tireless efforts in draining water from severely inundated roads and low-lying residential clusters. He emphasized that government surveillance will continue unabated until complete normalcy is restored across every neighborhood. This proactive public health intervention demonstrated the administration holistic approach to disaster relief, combining infrastructure remediation with rigorous community healthcare safeguards.
