Chief Minister M.K. Stalin urged the Union Government to take immediate, definitive legislative action to formally repeal the three contentious central farm enactments on the very opening day of the upcoming Parliament winter session. Stalin emphasized that administrative verbal assurances must be promptly translated into formal parliamentary repeals through appropriate constitutional bills, leaving no room for ambiguity, legislative stalling, or administrative delay.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the central government must initiate sincere, structured dialogue with leaders of the protesting agrarian unions to address all outstanding grievances, including statutory guarantees for Minimum Support Prices (MSP) across farm commodities and the withdrawal of police cases filed against agitating cultivators. He noted that over a year of relentless peaceful struggle across national borders proved that farmers rights cannot be compromised.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK government stands unswervingly behind India farming community, recalling that the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly had previously adopted a resolution demanding the withdrawal of the legislations. He declared that durable agrarian prosperity requires genuine consultation with farmers rather than unilateral corporate policies, urging the Centre to adopt a collaborative, federal approach to agricultural governance.
