Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted an extensive inspection of flood-affected localities across Manali New Town in northern Chennai, assessing damages caused by continuous monsoon downpours and stormwater overflow. Walking through inundated residential streets and neighborhood lanes, Stalin examined waterlogging levels, reviewed the operation of heavy drainage motors, and directed civic officials to expedite the dewatering of submerged habitations to prevent water from stagnating around houses.
During his visit, the Chief Minister visited a municipal relief shelter where families displaced by flooding were temporarily housed. Interacting directly with sheltered men, women, and children, Stalin listened attentively to their immediate needs, inquired about the availability of hot meals, drinking water, and dry bedding, and distributed essential relief provisions personally. He instructed municipal authorities to maintain spotless sanitation inside relief centers and arrange round-the-clock medical personnel to monitor health conditions.
Stalin instructed zonal officials to maintain continuous field supervision until all water recedes and normal life resumes across northern suburbs. His direct on-site presence provided immense emotional relief and reassurance to affected families, exemplifying an empathetic administration dedicated to proactive disaster response and citizen welfare during emergencies.
