Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted an intensive on-site inspection of severely waterlogged neighborhoods across northern Chennai, visiting inundated stretches along Pattalam, Pulianthope High Road, and Demellows Road. Walking through knee-deep rainwater in densely populated residential quarters, Stalin assessed the ground situation caused by continuous torrential downpours and directed municipal engineers and drainage teams to accelerate the deployment of high-power pumps to drain stagnant water immediately.
During the field visit, Stalin spoke directly with local shopkeepers, auto drivers, and neighborhood families, listening attentively to their difficulties regarding submerged roads and water entry into ground-floor households. He instructed Greater Chennai Corporation authorities to deploy additional suction trucks, desilt connecting stormwater channels, and ensure uninterrupted power supply and drinking water distribution across all impacted streets.
The Chief Minister also directed public health officials to conduct neighborhood medical camps and distribute chlorine tablets to prevent the spread of waterborne infections. Stalin hands-on presence in vulnerable north Chennai neighborhoods reassured residents that the government was prioritizing their safety and welfare. Through decisive field interventions, Stalin reinforced his administration commitment to prompt disaster response, equitable urban governance, and the rapid restoration of civic normalcy.
