The suspension of 12 Opposition MPs on the very first day of the winter session is highly condemnable. Such acts diminish the democratic spirit of the Parliament. I demand, on behalf of the DMK to revoke the suspension immediately. https://t.co/vKRfh0fFID

DMK President and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the arbitrary suspension of twelve Opposition Members of Parliament on the opening day of Parliament winter session. Describing the punitive action as an assault on established legislative norms, Stalin remarked that silencing elected representatives undermines the foundational tenets of parliamentary democracy and stifles constructive debate on crucial national concerns affecting ordinary citizens.
The disciplinary action, invoked against lawmakers representing several national and regional opposition parties over previous session proceedings, was termed disproportionate and authoritarian by opposition leaders. Speaking on behalf of the DMK, Stalin demanded the immediate and unconditional revocation of the suspensions, urging parliamentary authorities to respect the constitutional rights of opposition parties to question executive policies and represent citizen grievances on the floor of the House.
Stalin stated that Parliament derives its strength from robust debate, legislative scrutiny, and executive accountability, rather than unilateral attempts to suppress dissenting voices. He affirmed that the DMK will stand in solidarity with opposition forces across the country to safeguard constitutional freedoms, federal rights, and democratic processes within parliamentary chambers, resisting moves that diminish democratic institutions.
