Conducting extensive field inspections across Chennai western suburbs, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin reviewed water discharge conditions at the surplus weir of Porur lake, a critical freshwater reservoir, and inspected the Mangadu surplus water canal. Stalin evaluated stormwater inflow levels and assessed how surplus floodwaters were draining toward the Chembarambakkam basin and downstream channels.

Meeting with local residents whose neighbourhoods experienced inundation due to overflowing surplus channels, Stalin listened attentively to their concerns and distributed essential relief kits, dry rations, and medical supplies. He instructed revenue authorities and disaster management teams to maintain continuous monitoring and provide immediate shelter and warm meals to affected families.

The Chief Minister directed Water Resources Department engineers to undertake desilting and channel widening on a war footing. Clearing structural bottlenecks and eliminating unauthorized encroachments along the Mangadu canal will ensure that heavy monsoon inflows discharge smoothly without submerging adjoining residential colonies in the future.
