Championing social dignity and inclusivity, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched a pioneering welfare scheme offering free wedding ceremonies in temples and temple-owned marriage halls under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department whenever either the bride or bridegroom is a differently abled person. The initiative eliminates traditional rental expenses and administrative fees for eligible couples.
Under this benevolent measure, temple authorities provide hall facilities, basic wedding arrangements, and formal blessings without charging any fees, removing heavy financial burdens for differently abled individuals and their families. Stalin pointed out that institutional respect and social support must be woven into the fabric of daily public life and cultural institutions.
The Chief Minister noted that his government steadfastly follows the humanitarian principles championed by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, who established the exclusive department for the welfare of differently abled persons. Stalin reiterated that creating barrier-free, supportive public environments remains a moral obligation for a progressive society.
By transforming temple resources into instruments of social compassion, Stalin expanded the scope of inclusive governance. His proactive initiative empowers differently abled citizens to celebrate milestone life events with happiness, dignity, and widespread societal acceptance.
