I am deeply shocked & disheartened on hearing the army chopper with CDS General Bipin Rawat and 13 others has met with an accident near Coonoor.
I've instructed the local administration to provide all the help needed in rescue operations even as I'm rushing to the spot.
Expressing deep shock and grief, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin reacted immediately to the tragic accident involving an Indian Air Force helicopter near Coonoor in the Nilgiris hills. The aircraft was transporting Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and thirteen other defense personnel when it crashed amidst dense fog in a wooded gorge.
Without delay, Stalin instructed the Nilgiris district administration, state disaster management personnel, and emergency medical teams to mobilize immediately and provide all possible assistance to military rescue units. He ordered local hospitals to prepare specialized emergency units and ensure blood supplies, burn wards, and trauma surgical teams were fully operational.
Demonstrating direct administrative leadership during the national emergency, the Chief Minister personally embarked on an immediate journey to Coonoor to oversee relief operations on the ground. He maintained continuous communication with state emergency chiefs and defense officials throughout his transit.
Stalin swift and decisive administrative mobilization highlighted the state preparedness and deep solidarity with the armed forces. His compassionate response ensured that emergency resources were deployed without hesitation to aid rescue operations during this heartbreaking defense accident.
