Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inspected ongoing rejuvenation works at Tholkappia Poonga, also known as the Adyar Eco Park in Chennai. Established during the governance of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, the wetland sanctuary stands as an ecological corridor supporting coastal flora, fauna, and water conservation. Stalin reviewed ongoing structural improvements and ecological remediation across the park.

During the visit, Stalin instructed department officials to expand public outreach and coordinate with academic institutions. He emphasized that students should visit the park regularly to learn about urban wetlands, biodiversity conservation, and environmental science firsthand. Facilitating youth immersion in ecological habitats fosters lasting stewardship among rising generations.

The inspection underscores the state government commitment to urban climate resilience and sustainable infrastructure. As coastal cities navigate expanding urbanisation, revitalised natural buffers like the Adyar estuary protect surrounding neighbourhoods from flooding while lowering urban heat levels.

Stalin reiterated that protecting urban green lungs remains vital alongside modern civic growth. By blending Karunanidhi ecological vision with proactive environmental administration, the Chief Minister demonstrated focused oversight, ensuring public parks provide enduring community education and ecological balance across the bustling state capital.
