Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over the ceremonial inauguration of Innuyir Kaappom - Nammai Kaakkum 48 at Melmaruvathur, rolling out a landmark trauma welfare scheme that covers emergency hospitalization expenses for accident victims during the initial 48 hours. Addressing healthcare professionals, emergency medical technicians, and civic leaders, Stalin underscored that unexpected road crashes should never turn fatal due to treatment delays or lack of immediate funds. He affirmed that his administration views public healthcare as a fundamental citizen entitlement.

Under the newly unveiled scheme, 609 government and private medical centres are networked through an automated software system to ensure seamless patient admission and cashless treatment. The Chief Minister also recognized good samaritans who swiftly transport accident victims to hospitals, announcing state felicitation and cash rewards to encourage compassionate civic interventions during highway emergencies. Stalin noted that timely transport combined with expert clinical care will effectively reduce road accident mortality across Tamil Nadu.
