Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched Innuyir Kaappom - Nammai Kaakkum 48 at Melmaruvathur, inaugurating a life-saving healthcare model that provides cashless emergency medical care to road accident victims during the crucial first forty-eight hours. Under this progressive scheme, the state government covers treatment costs up to one lakh rupees per victim across empanelled hospitals, removing financial anxiety during life-or-death trauma situations. Stalin stressed that timely medical interventions during the critical golden hour are decisive in saving road accident victims from preventable deaths.

The Chief Minister explained that the scheme operates universally across hundreds of designated public and private hospitals situated along major state and national highways. Victims receive immediate diagnostic scans, blood transfusions, emergency surgeries, and ICU care without hospital administrative delays. In addition to funding emergency medical treatments, Stalin announced that the government is upgrading accident-prone road stretches, deploying advanced ambulances, and expanding highway trauma units to achieve an accident-free Tamil Nadu.
