Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched Innuyir Kaappom - Nammai Kaakkum 48, a pioneering emergency healthcare initiative at Melmaruvathur in Chengalpattu district. The humanitarian scheme guarantees free emergency medical treatment for accident victims during the critical initial 48 hours following road mishaps, with expenses up to one lakh rupees per individual borne entirely by the state government. Stalin emphasized that saving precious human lives during the golden hour of medical trauma is the foremost moral responsibility of any civilized administration.
Under this scheme, over six hundred government and empanelled private hospitals across Tamil Nadu provide immediate surgical and intensive critical care without demanding initial financial deposits or identity verification. Beneficiaries include residents of Tamil Nadu, visitors from other states, and foreign nationals injured within state borders. The initiative covers eighty-one critical medical procedures, ensuring prompt trauma stabilization.
Stalin asserted that no citizen should lose life due to lack of immediate medical funds or treatment delays. By dismantling bureaucratic hurdles during medical emergencies, Stalin introduced a transformative public health intervention that establishes Tamil Nadu as a national leader in emergency trauma response and compassionate governance.
