Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for a specialized safety training institute and distributed official welfare identity cards to 856 fireworks workers in Virudhunagar district. Recognizing the hazardous working conditions in the regional pyrotechnics industry, Stalin emphasized that protecting the lives, physical safety, and socio-economic dignity of fireworks and matchbox labourers is a non-negotiable duty of the state government. The dedicated training academy will impart standardized protocols in chemical handling, explosive storage, and accident prevention.

The Chief Minister distributed membership identity cards issued by the newly reconstituted Tamil Nadu Fireworks and Matchbox Workers Welfare Board. Enrolment in this welfare board provides unorganized industrial workers and their families with structured social security benefits, including accident compensation, medical insurance, maternity assistance, educational scholarships for children, and old-age pension allowances. Stalin announced that enrollment drives will continue until every worker in the fireworks cluster receives full welfare coverage.

Stalin asserted that industrial growth cannot be achieved at the expense of human safety. His targeted social security and occupational safety interventions brought renewed hope and institutional protection to thousands of vulnerable working-class families across Virudhunagar district.
