Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that Tamil Nadu achieved a monumental public health milestone by administering over eight crore COVID-19 vaccine doses under the state's free universal immunisation campaign. Commending healthcare personnel, district collectors, village health nurses, and civic volunteers, Stalin emphasized that this massive coverage was accomplished through relentless administrative teamwork and regular mega vaccination camps organized every Sunday across thousands of rural and urban centres.
The Chief Minister highlighted that when his government assumed office during the catastrophic second wave, vaccine hesitancy and severe supply shortages severely limited immunisation coverage. Through dedicated public awareness campaigns, door-to-door enumeration, and mobile outreach teams reaching elderly and differently abled residents at home, the administration transformed vaccine delivery into a participatory people's movement. Stalin noted that high vaccination coverage successfully dampened virus transmission and prevented hospitalization surges during subsequent infection waves.
Stalin issued a renewed appeal to eligible citizens who had not yet received their second dose to visit government health centres immediately. His announcement reaffirmed Tamil Nadu's exemplary public health leadership, demonstrating how accessible, compassionate governance safeguards millions of lives during global pandemic crises.
