Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over the formal launch of the Meendum Manjappai statewide awareness drive at the Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai, marking a key milestone in Tamil Nadu's ecological policies. Addressing ministers, environmental specialists, students, and civic leaders, Stalin outlined the urgent necessity of eliminating non-recyclable plastics from everyday commercial life. He emphasized that the state government is executing a multi-pronged environmental strategy combining strict regulatory compliance, sustainable manufacturing promotion, and community-driven behaviour modification.
During the ceremonial launch, the Chief Minister administered a green pledge to the assembled gathering, committing participants to abandon disposable plastics and advocate reusable cloth alternatives. He stressed that climate change and urban environmental degradation represent critical governance challenges that demand proactive state leadership. Stalin instructed civic corporations, municipalities, and village panchayats to organize local exhibitions, distribution drives, and school awareness programs to take the message across Tamil Nadu.
Stalin asserted that ecological security is integral to human well-being and sustainable economic progress. His ceremonial launch underscored Tamil Nadu's determination to lead the country in sustainable living and environmental stewardship through coordinated, long-term grassroots action.
