Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the integrated Finance Department complex at Nandanam in Chennai will be named Perasiriyar Anbazhagan Maaligai, with a bronze statue of the veteran Dravidian ideologue erected on the premises. Making the policy announcement during Professor K. Anbazhagan's centenary commemorations, Stalin recalled the towering leader's profound role as the guiding conscience and lifelong companion of Muthamizharignar M. Karunanidhi. Anbazhagan served with distinction as Tamil Nadu's Finance Minister and Education Minister across multiple DMK tenures, managing state budgets with exemplary probity.
Stalin emphasized that naming the state's apex financial administration campus after Anbazhagan pays fitting institutional tribute to an unbending rationalist who dedicated nine decades to the Dravidian self-respect movement. As Finance Minister, Anbazhagan safeguarded fiscal discipline while prioritizing social welfare investments and educational expansion for underprivileged communities.
The Chief Minister stated that the memorial statue and naming honour ensure that Anbazhagan's intellectual legacy and selfless public service continue to inspire future generations of administrators and citizens alike. The announcement underscored the government's reverence for Dravidian stalwarts whose ideological leadership established modern Tamil Nadu's egalitarian socio-economic foundations.
