Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced the revival of Chennai Sangamam, the celebrated open-air cultural festival dedicated to showcasing traditional Tamil folk arts, music, dance, and culinary heritage. Stalin emphasized that Tamil Nadu possesses a profound duty to safeguard its distinct cultural identity and project ancient folk art forms onto national and international stages. Originally conceived during previous DMK governance, the festival brought folk artists from rural hamlets directly into Chennai's public parks, beachfronts, and open public squares.

The Chief Minister explained that reviving Chennai Sangamam provides vital financial patronage and dignified performance platforms for hundreds of grassroots folk artists whose livelihoods were severely disrupted in recent years. By presenting traditional art forms such as Karagattam, Oyilattam, Thappattam, and Therukoothu in accessible public venues, the festival bridges rural cultural practitioners with urban audiences. Stalin noted that keeping these heritage art forms vibrant ensures that younger generations appreciate the richness of Tamil cultural traditions.
