Chief Minister M.K. Stalin headed straight to the Greater Chennai Corporation's integrated command and control centre at Ripon Building immediately after returning from an official tour in Tiruchirappalli. Arriving late in the evening as intense rains inundated parts of Chennai, Stalin reviewed live sensor feeds, CCTV monitoring networks, and real-time helpline distress calls. He consulted directly with civic commissioners, disaster monitoring secretaries, and municipal engineers to evaluate waterlogging levels across subways, low-lying neighbourhoods, and major roads.
During the command centre review, Stalin issued firm directives to ensure prompt deployment of heavy-duty diesel dewatering pumps across vulnerable waterlogged locations. He instructed field teams to clear silted storm drains, remove tree obstructions, and keep emergency rescue boats and food relief packages ready in low-lying residential sectors. Stalin promised that administrative teams would continue operations through the night until floodwaters were completely removed and normal road transit was restored.
The Chief Minister's immediate transition from an outstation tour to emergency flood monitoring highlighted his unwavering commitment to public safety. His direct coordination provided steady leadership to civic workers and reassured Chennai citizens that their government stood alert during crisis situations.
