Chief Minister M.K. Stalin formally inaugurated the newly established police commissionerates of Tambaram and Avadi, fulfilling a landmark administrative reform to decentralize and modernise metropolitan policing. Bifurcating the sprawling Greater Chennai Police jurisdiction, the restructuring brings rapid urban growth corridors and industrial hubs under dedicated commissioners endowed with magisterial policing powers. Stalin explained that dividing policing responsibilities across three focused jurisdictions ensures swifter response times, enhanced patrolling, and tailored crime monitoring for rapidly growing suburban populations.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister underscored that modern law enforcement must prioritize crime prevention rather than merely reacting to offences after they occur. He instructed police officers to use modern surveillance technologies, strengthen community outreach, and handle citizen complaints with courtesy and fairness. Stalin reaffirmed that women's safety, industrial security, and maintaining impartial public order remain topmost priorities under his administration.

By establishing these commissionerates, Stalin delivered a long-pending structural upgrade to Chennai's security architecture.
