Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the statewide distribution of comprehensive Pongal gift hampers to all rice-drawing ration cardholders ahead of the Tamil harvest festival. Inaugurating the welfare initiative at a distribution point, Stalin emphasized that Pongal embodies egalitarian Tamil heritage by celebrating agriculture, the nourishing sun, and cattle that support rural livelihoods. He noted that the distribution ensures working-class and vulnerable households can celebrate the festive season with abundance and dignity.
The festival package distributed across fair price shops features essential culinary ingredients, including raw rice, jaggery, and festive grocery provisions sourced to meet household cooking needs. Stalin directed the Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department along with district monitoring officers to supervise distribution counters stringently, ensuring prompt service without crowds or stock irregularities.
Stalin underscored that his administration views festival assistance not merely as material aid, but as an expression of social solidarity that unites all Tamils in shared celebration.
