Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted an on-site inspection of the large-scale COVID-19 care facility being readied at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam. Accompanied by senior health administrators, Stalin reviewed oxygen pipeline installations, patient bed allocations, medical equipment readiness, and essential drug inventories. The special transit hospital was activated to expand emergency care capacity as health authorities monitored a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases fueled by the Omicron variant across Chennai and neighbouring districts.

During his visit, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure adequate paramedic staffing, round-the-clock doctors, and prompt screening mechanisms to manage patient intake smoothly. Stalin stressed that the government was executing comprehensive pandemic containment measures at high speed to prevent hospital saturation and guarantee immediate treatment for severe cases.
