Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced an all-party meeting to determine collective political and legal strategies against ongoing delays in clearing Tamil Nadu's anti-NEET legislation. The state assembly had unanimously passed a bill seeking complete exemption from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test to protect rural and government school students seeking medical admissions. However, the Governor withheld presidential assent, while the Union Home Minister declined to grant an appointment to an all-party parliamentary delegation from Tamil Nadu seeking to submit a formal memorandum.
Stalin condemned these institutional hurdles, warning that centralized entrance examinations shatter the medical career aspirations of underprivileged students. He stressed that medical admissions must remain anchored in state educational curricula and social justice reservations. The refusal of Union authorities to meet elected Tamil Nadu representatives constituted a serious affront to democratic protocol and federal dignity.
The Chief Minister asserted that securing total exemption from NEET remains an uncompromising objective for his administration. By uniting all democratic political parties across Tamil Nadu, Stalin mobilized broad public and political consensus to challenge central overreach and uphold state legislative autonomy in medical education.
