Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted surprise field inspections of state fair price shops in Royapuram and New Washermanpet in North Chennai, closely examining the on-ground distribution of festive Pongal gift hampers to public distribution cardholders. The extensive festive package, containing twenty-one essential grocery items including raw rice, jaggery, cashew nuts, cardamom, and whole sugarcane, was rolled out across thousands of ration shops to assist working-class families celebrate the harvest festival.

During his inspection, the Chief Minister personally verified the packaging quality, weight accuracy, and freshness of individual commodities packed within the festive kits. He interacted with ration shop sales personnel, reviewing daily distribution registers and crowd management arrangements. Stalin also engaged with women beneficiaries queuing at the distribution counters, listening to their direct feedback regarding product standards and shop operating hours. He appealed to recipients to wear masks and observe Covid-19 safety precautions while visiting distribution points.

Stalin instructed civil supplies officials to maintain rigorous quality surveillance, eliminate procedural bottlenecks, and address public grievances immediately. He reaffirmed that his government remains devoted to ensuring festive abundance and food security for every household across Tamil Nadu.
