Chief Minister M.K. Stalin issued strict instructions to all municipal, rural development, and state highways engineers to execute damaged road restoration works on a war footing across Tamil Nadu. Emphasizing the vital importance of commuter safety and smooth transit, Stalin stressed that repairing potholes and battered road surfaces caused by seasonal northeast monsoon rainfall must be completed without procedural delays.
The Chief Minister noted that millions of daily commuters, bus passengers, freight transporters, and two-wheeler riders face severe difficulties when roadways remain damaged. He directed department heads, district collectors, and civic commissioners to mobilize emergency repair machinery, deploy skilled labor squads, and ensure round-the-clock road laying operations across critical transport corridors. Stalin underlined that while speed is essential, quality control must never be compromised, mandating proper leveling, durable bitumen mixtures, and efficient drainage connections.
Stalin warned that laxity or lethargy in restoring damaged roads will attract swift departmental action. He instructed senior supervisory officials to conduct continuous physical inspections of road works and resolve public complaints promptly. Stalin reaffirmed that prompt civic maintenance reflects responsible public governance dedicated to serving citizens efficiently.
